Facts. I was born in Trinidad. I am both Lokono and Kalina (Kalinago). Kalina from my great-grandmother Teresa, who was born in Trinidad, and Lokono from my great-great-grandfather Caetan Makano who was born in Venezuela.

Puerto Rico is one example of them commercializing our culture and what it is to be Boricua. The most recent tourism slogan I saw was “Live Boricua”. Basically saying anyone can come and be and live like a Boricua. Makes me so mad. Our culture and island is not for sale!

Bartolome de Las casas did not come to the American Islands until 10 years after Columbus's first trip. You said in your video that you aren't sure if he came on the first trip or not. Not. Crazy situations didn't really start happening until Columbus's second trip. At Columbus was not really involved with a lot of that stuff besides a few battles. So bartolome de Las casas wrote about everything after columbus. As far as I know, there's not a single text where bartolome de Las casas says anything bad about Christopher Columbus. There are some rumors that say he does. I still haven't found them, but I won't quit searching until I do find them.

Hi I want to connect with this side of my culture im full Puerto Rican and did a dna test seeing Taino/indigenous blood. Is there a way to find out to what tribe you are descended from? It’s hard to find information Taino in general but it would also be cool to talk to others about this
